From the author of The Half Life of Molly Pierce and The Lost & Found comes a magical new YA novel about 24 dares, 3 weeks, and taking a leap into the unknown.

Lottie Reeves has always struggled with anxiety, and when her beloved Aunt Helen dies, Lottie begins to fear that her own unexpected death might be waiting around every corner.

Aunt Helen wasn’t a typical aunt. She was the author of the best–selling Alvin Hatter series, about siblings who discover the elixir of immortality. Her writing inspired a generation of readers.

In her will, she leaves one last writing project—just for Lottie. It’s a series of letters, each containing mysterious instructions designed to push Lottie out of her comfort zone. Soon, Lottie’s trying some writing of her own, leaping off cliffs, and even falling for a boy she’s only just met. Then the letters reveal an extraordinary secret about the inspiration for the Alvin Hatter series. Lottie finds herself faced with an impossible choice, one that will force her to confront her greatest fear once and for all.

This gorgeous novel is perfect for fans of Jennifer Niven, with the scavenger hunt feel of Thirteen Little Blue Envelopes, and a dash of magic that evokes Tuck Everlasting.

Everything All At Once is that novel that will make you believe in forever.

I started reading this without really knowing what it’s all about except for the fact that the main character has an aunt who died and her aunt left her some tasks for her to fulfill. With that, I thought that this would be an “adventure” kind of book. Well, yes, it’s an adventure kind of book with everything else in between like LGBTQ, mental health, friendship, family and that one thing I did not expect: MAGIC REALISM. Now that I’m thinking why magic realism is not one of its genres in Goodreads, I’ve come to realize that maybe it’s a secret. If it is indeed a secret, then sorry, not sorry for revealing it! 😀

I devoured this book and I’m glad I did! It’s got something that will pull you into the story. It’s so light, quick and easy to read; but the messages conveyed in this story are so deep, important and timely. It is such a diverse book.

I think this book is the YA books’ saving grace. Many have been saying that YA books are shallow and they’re just cutesy-themed, but NO. Everything All At Once is a proof that YA stories can be an inspiration to the youth. Honestly, I think this can save humanity. This book can probably save a life, if you just dig deeper into its words.

This book may deal with important issues such as mental health and death, but it is still so fun to read! It has really cool moments wherein you just wanna dive right into that moment and be with the characters! The plot is marvelously done. I love how everything is connected with each other. The characters are so lovable, lovely and loving. There’s a lot of love in this book, really. ❤ ❤

Sure, there’s really nothing that can last until the end of time, but this novel taught me that the things we do and say can have an everlasting effect on the people around and not around us. We have a big impact on others, no matter how small of a person we think we are.

Two big thumbs up to Miss Katrina Leno for making a life saving and still fun story. 😉

*Thank you so much, Harper Collins International, for sending me an advance reader’s copy! This, however, does not affect my opinion on the book.*

  1. Lovely review! I’d never heard of this novel, but it sounds truly wonderful. Magical realism isn’t very prevalent in YA, and when it is, people rarely recognize it as magical realism, so it’s always cool to see a magical realism book in the world of YA. Also, it’s always so great when a book balances that fun quality with deep, meaningful subjects. Thanks for the review! I’ll have to add this to my goodreads TBR.
